SGT ANDREW J BADDICK, US ARMY

Andrew J. Baddick, known as A.J., was born June 30th, 1977 in Coaldale, PA. Like his father, Joe, he served in the 82nd Airborne Division. While serving in Iraq in 2003, he sacrificed himself to save a fellow soldier. His fascinating story is documented in the book, My Hero, My Son, written by his father. SPC Thomas J. Barbieri II, US Army

Specialist Thomas J. Barbieri, 24, of Gaithersburg, Maryland, died on August 23, 2006, south of Baghdad, Iraq, when his patrol encountered enemy force's small arms fire during combat operations. Barbieri was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 325th Airborne Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade, 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, North Carolina. [More ...]


SSG CHRISTOPHER FALKEL, US ARMY

Staff Sergeant Christopher M. Falkel, 22, of Littleton, CO, was born on September 24, 1982. He died on August 8, 2005, in Deh Afghan, Afghanistan, when his unit was conducting combat operations and was engaged by enemy forces using small arms fire. Falkel was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 3rd Special Forces Group, Fort Bragg, North Carolina. [More ...]

 


SSG JOSEPH GAGE, US ARMY

Army Staff Sergeant Joseph Alan Gage, 28, was born February 15, 1978, a native of Modesto, California. He was killed on November 2, 2006, when the vehicle in which he was riding was struck by an improvised-explosive device in eastern Baghdad. He served with the 1st Battalion, 506th Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division based at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. [More ...]

 

 


SGT Brian St. Germain, USMC

Sergeant Brian St. Germain, 22, of West Warwick, RI, was born July 18, 1983. He died April 2, 2006, as a result of injuries received when the seven-ton truck he was riding in, rolled over in a flash flood in the Al-Anbar Province, ASR Uranim, Iraq. He was one of six who were killed in that accident. He had been serving his second tour of duty in Iraq. [More ...]


CAPT Ryan K. Iannelli, USMC

Captain Ryan K. Iannelli, 27 of Clarksboro, NJ, was promoted to heaven on September 28th, 2011 while supporting combat operations in Helmand province Afghanistan. Iannelli, an AH-1W Super Cobra pilot, was assigned to the Marine Light Attack helicopter squadron 269, Marine Air Group 29, 2nd Marine Air Wing, II Marine Expeditionary Force. LCPL Eric Herzberg, USMC

Eric W. Herzberg was born at Madigan Army hospital at Fort Lewis, Washington. His father, Eric Herzberg, was an Army officer at the time. An athlete, a fan of Irish and patriotic country music, an avid video gamer and rugby player, Eric loved his country and his Catholic faith. He was 20 years old when he died. Eric is survived by his mother, Gina Barnhurst; father, Eric Herzberg; older sister, Katie and younger brother, Matthew. MAJ Michael D. Martino, USMC

Major Michael D. Martino, 32, of Irvine, CA, was killed November 2, 2005 when his and Major Gerald M Bloomfield's AH-1W Super Cobra helicopter crashed while flying in support of security and stabilization operations near Ar Ramadi, Iraq. Both Marines were with Marine Light-Attack Helicopter Squadron 369, Marine Aircraft Group 39, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, California. SGT JEREMY R. MCQUEARY, USMC

Sgt. Jeremy R. McQueary, 27, of Columbus, IN, was born January 28, 1983. He died February 18, 2010, while supporting combat operations in Helmand province, Afghanistan. He was assigned to 2nd Combat Engineer Battalion, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, N.C.

Sgt. McQueary graduated from Columbus East High School and joined the Marines in 2000. He previously served in Okinawa, Japan; then served two tours in Iraq in 2005 and 2008. He had completed 5 of his 7 months of his first tour in Afghanistan when he died. Sgt. McQueary leaves behind a wife; Rae, and a 5 month old son, Hadley; his parents, Dave (stepfather) and Deb Kleinschmidt; and his sister, Rebecca. [More ...]


MAJ LEON F. MORAND, US ARMY

Major Leon Morand of Hartford, CT, was a decorated veteran of World War II. In Korea, he was a member of Headquarters Company, 89th Medium Tank Battalion, 25th Infantry Division. While supporting the 24th Infantry Division, he was listed as Missing in Action on November 27, 1950. Later it was determined he had been killed while fighting the enemy in North Korea. His remains were not recovered. He was survived by his loving wife Vera, his daughter Nancy, and his son Leon. [More ...]


LTC MARK TAYLOR, MD, US ARMY

Army Major Mark D. Taylor, MD, was born November 17, 1962 in Stockton CA. On March 20, 2004, just days prior to his scheduled redeployment to Fort Bragg, NC, he was killed, at 41, when his living area came under rocket attack in Fallujah, Iraq. When leaving for Iraq, he left his 6 year old son, Conner, with a set of dog tags saying, "Wear them until Daddy comes home." Those who knew him well remembered Taylor as a wonderful man serving his country. SGT MATTHEW J. SANDRI, US ARMY

Sgt Matthew J. Sandri was born on September 1, 1979, and was only 24 years old when he was killed in action on March 20, 2004. He was the eldest son of Bob and Annette Sandri of Shamokin, PA, and grandson of Howard and Theresa Sandri of Shamokin, and Joseph and Mary Zukus of Mount Carmel, PA. Matt had two sisters, Julie and Lydia, and a brother, Blake. He spent his entire life calling the Shamokin – Mount Carmel area his home. [More ...]
