Major Leon Morand of Hartford, CT, was a decorated veteran of World War II. In Korea, he was a member of Headquarters Company, 89th Medium Tank Battalion, 25th Infantry Division. While supporting the 24th Infantry Division, he was listed as Missing in Action on November 27, 1950. Later it was determined he had been killed while fighting the enemy in North Korea. His remains were not recovered. He was survived by his loving wife Vera, his daughter Nancy, and his son Leon.

The Morand family is supporting Our Military Kids through Dog Tag Brewing. This organization works with families with children to help ease the stress of the child while a parent is deployed or has just returned with an injury. The grants from Our Military Kids help by paying for participation in sports, fine arts, and tutoring programs.
